Emma Newborn
The Bitches’ Box is the comedy partnership between actresses/writers Emma Newborn and Amelia Dunbar. Our three comedy shows ‘The Bitches’ Box’, ‘Sons Of A Bitch’ and ‘Life’s A Bitch’ have seen wide support and glowing reviews across NZ, Australia and the UK.
As well as being Arts Festival favourites, The Bitches’ Box are renowned for our sellout woolshed tours. We’ve travelled to the nooks and crannies of rural NZ, where we deck out the sheep shearing spaces into fully functioning theatres, frequently accommodating 200+ people a night.
Just like a dog, our audience can sniff bullshit a mile away. Our observational comedy lands because of an authentic and lived experience of country life. Amelia's Canterbury hill country upbringing and Emma's suburban Auckland childhood make for a perfect mix, each gently poking fun at the other.
We have spent the last decade working our way into the hearts of rural communities with fresh, fast, and fiercely funny insights into the minds and motivations of man's best friend.
We’ve successfully grown a dedicated fan base and ready audience: rural New Zealanders who love their dogs and love their comedy.
