Mia Maramara
Mia Maramara is a Filipino filmmaker whose work has screened around the world. Her passion for authentic, trailblazing stories has led her to wear different hats in the industry, most notably as a writer, director, and producer.
Mia wrote and directed Beyond the Veil: Albularyo for TVNZ, which earned her the distinction of being the first Filipino director to helm a prime-time drama on New Zealand TV. Abularyo went onto be the National Winner for Best Single Drama / Telemovie / Anthology Episode at the Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Her feature film Kāinga has screened at festivals around the world and her latest feature film, Grafted (dir. Sasha Rainbow) has premiered at Sitges Film Festival 2024, NZ International Film Festival 2024, and Hawaii International Film Festival 2024 and is distributed by Mister Smith Entertainment and Shudder.
Mia has participated in Philippine National Artist Ricky Lee's Cinemalaya Masterclass as well as the prestigious DEGANZ Female Directors Incubator. Mia’s recent short film script, Still Got It, placed as a finalist at the Outstanding Screenplays Shorts Competition, beating out over 1180 applicants.
