Oro's Live Project
Oro Ata
Oro Ata is a Wellington-based collective and platform centring young, Brown, queer, independent, Māori and indigenous artists. Framed as a recurring event series, Oro Ata hopes to activate music venues and unconventional spaces to present performances, workshops and wānanga that bring artists and audiences into direct exchange. Alongside live shows are events to host industry sessions on management, marketing, law and distribution, as well as cross-disciplinary workshops connecting musicians with choreographers, filmmakers, designers and writers. Led by Iris Little, LILA JNR, MĀ, Maia-te-oho, Mara TK, Romi Wrights, Te Rehia Lake Perez and Tony Douglas, Oro Ata draws from diverse practices across music genres and arts disciplines. Funding will support mentorship, governance, and safe-practice training, enabling the collective to build sustainable systems, deliver accessible education, and develop a long-term model toward a dedicated physical space for artists and community.
