Brandon Carter-Chan
We are Tap NZ. New Zealand’s leading Tap Dance Company founded by Director and Choreographer Brandon Carter-Chan. Our vision is to produce groundbreaking stage performances designed to captivate and inspire audiences through rhythm and sound.
We are future thinkers in the constant search for new ideas. Our creativity is driven by our curiosity and ambition for innovation in Tap Dance. We do this by collaborating with a wide range of artists that represent styles such as Hip Hop, Popping, and Lindy Hop. Our strive for innovation and our unique collaborative process will show that Tap Dance has the power to entertain audiences all over the world.
Our Company includes some of New Zealand’s best Tap Dancers having won the PACANZ Tap Nationals in 2014 and 2024. Our Tap Dancers are constantly travelling the world performing on stages in cities such as Los Angeles, Arizona, Stockholm, Seoul, Dublin, Sydney and Prague just to name a few. We have staged sold out Tap Shows in Auckland and Wellington with our latest show Tap Fusion, a show that fused Tap Dance, Street Dance and Live Music.
Company Directors Brandon and Cameron Carter-Chan have over 20 years of performing arts experience actively working to bring modern Tap Dance to some of the biggest stages in the world. Authenticity is at the heart of all Tap NZ’s creative works with a great deal of care and respect for the art form as new ideas are taken to the stage. To ensure our works are as authentic as possible, Brandon has travelled multiple times to the Australian Tap Festival and Stockholm Tap Festival as a dancer and committee member, learning and connecting from the best Tap Dancers in the world such as Anthony Morigerato, Derik Grant and Savion Glover.
Brandon and Cameron are now travelling to Los Angeles to bring Tap NZ to the World of Dance Finals and Orange County Tap Festival in Anaheim.
