The Project
In 2026, Gloria - A Triple Bill tours to Western Australia, uniting The New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) with Co3 Contemporary Dance Australia.
This landmark collaboration brings together Douglas Wright’s iconic Gloria with two new works: Lament by Moss Te Ururangi Patterson (NZDC Artistic Director) and A Moving Portrait by Raewyn Hill (Co3 Artistic Director).
First seen in Aotearoa more than 30 years ago, Wright’s Gloria remains a breathtaking celebration of life and the human spirit.
Alongside it, Patterson and Hill place contemporary voices in dialogue with legacy, building a work that is both rooted in Aotearoa and reaching outward across the Tasman and beyond.
The Australian season, touring from regional towns to Perth, offers audiences a rare cultural and choreographic exchange – a meeting of whakapapa, resilience, and world-class artistry.
This triple bill will tour across Western Australia - from regional towns to Perth - with a vision to return the programme to Aotearoa and take it further internationally.
The Team

As Moss Te Ururangi Patterson notes, “Gloria is a masterpiece that continues to inspire dancers and audiences alike. Bringing this work to the stage again is an act of honouring the artists who came before, while also placing our own stories and voices alongside theirs”
The New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) is a leading full-time arts organisation creating and presenting innovative, inspiring contemporary dance in Aotearoa and internationally.
Artists and audiences are at the heart of our mahi. We serve dance-loving communities with bold, relevant work that reflects the diverse voices and spirit of Aotearoa. Our performances offer transformative experiences rooted in whenua, whakapapa, and contemporary movement practice.
Guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we honour tangata whenua throughout our organisation and embrace courageous risk-taking that inspires artists and collaborators to push boundaries.
NZDC is primarily funded by Creative New Zealand, with additional support from philanthropic partners, local government, and trusts.
The Funding
Our goal is to raise $6,000 to directly support international travel for our NZDC touring party of eight dancers and collaborators from Aotearoa to Western Australia.
