The Project

I'm Rebecca Robin, also known as Ruby Kush Music. I'm a Christchurch musician, resident artist at Toi Auaha, and I'm building an 8-track album about this city — about the earthquakes, about what we lost, and what we found on the other side.

"I Roll With the Divine" is my debut single    from my upcoming album.

It came out of a year-long one-on-one mentorship with internationally renowned producer Greg Haver.

Blood, sweat, and tears went into this song. It's finished. It's ready. Now it needs a video that does it justice.

This campaign funds that video — and helps me bring this music fully into the world.

The Team

Musician, community advocate, podcaster, and resident artist at Toi Auaha in Ōtautahi Christchurch. I've been performing as Ruby Kush Music for several years, releasing my debut EP Stardust two years ago and building my platform through the Toi Ōtautahi music incubator programme.

But I'm not doing this alone.

Producer Greg Haver is behind me. One of the most respected names in New Zealand and international music — he spent a year working with me one on one and believes in this project. It's not every day you get to know your mentor and have a song with them

The Christchurch arts community is behind me. Toi Ōtautahi, Toi Auaha, and the people who have shown up to my gigs, shared my music, and supported my journey from the beginning.

My listeners are behind me. People who heard Stardust and felt something. People who know what this city has been through and understand why this music matters.

And now I'm asking you to get behind me too. This campaign is proof that independent music in Aotearoa is alive, community-funded, and made with real heart.

The Funding

  • Video production: $2,000
  • Makeup and costuming: $750
  • Catering and shoot day expenses: $250
  • Marketing and release: $500
  • Every dollar brings this video closer to existing.

The Details

"I Roll With the Divine" is the sister song to Stardust — the title track from my debut EP of the same name. Same soul, more fire. It's about growth and expansion — about the workings of the universe and where I fit inside them. If Stardust was the beginning of the journey, Divine is where I arrive.

This song came out of one of the most significant creative experiences of my life. Over the past year I completed a one-on-one mentorship with producer Greg Haver through Toi Ōtautahi. Greg is one of New Zealand's most respected and internationally recognised music producers — known for his work with Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, and acclaimed artists across the globe. He didn't have to say yes. He did. And we made something I am incredibly proud of.

Blood, sweat, and tears went into this song. Late nights, hard conversations, deep dives into what I actually wanted to say and how I wanted to say it. The kind of creative process that changes you. That mentorship, that relationship, that year — it's all in this recording.

"I Roll With the Divine" is the first single from my upcoming 8-track album themed around the Christchurch earthquakes. This city shaped me. The earthquakes broke something open in all of us, and this album is my attempt to give that experience a voice — the grief, the rebuilding, the finding of yourself on the other side of devastation. Divine is where that story begins.

The song is finished. Recorded, produced, and mixed to a professional standard with one of the best in the business. What it needs now is a video that matches the mahi that went into making it. A video that showcases Christchurch — our streets, our light, our people. Something visually powerful that puts this music where it belongs: in front of the world.

I have given everything to get this far. This campaign is the final step. Help me bring this song fully into the world.

The Impact

This is bigger than a music video.

"I Roll With the Divine" is the first single from an 8-track album about the Christchurch earthquakes. A body of work that has been years in the making. A project that carries the weight of this city's story — the loss, the rebuilding, the finding of light on the other side of devastation.

This video is the beginning of that. The first visible proof that this album is real, that it is coming, and that it deserves to exist in the world.

For Christchurch — this music is for us. It is made here, about here, by someone who lived through it here. Every time an independent Christchurch artist puts something into the world with professional quality behind it, it matters. It says we are still here. We are still creating. We are still standing.

For me personally — this campaign sets the stage for everything that comes next. The full album. The next single. The next crowdfund. Every step I take toward completing this body of work begins here, with your support.

When you donate to this campaign you are not just funding a video. You are backing independent music that comes from the heart of this city. You are proving that community-funded art works in Aotearoa. You are helping a Christchurch artist show the world what we are made of.

This is just the beginning. Come with me.
