The Project
Yeah The Girls is a comedic short film about dating in your 20s in Auckland NZ, that's also a love letter to the power of female friendships.
We are crowdfunding so that we can pay our crew for their time and their equipment. Making movies can be just as dire as the Auckland dating scene, and we want to make sure we’re not only supportive friends, but also supportive (and paying!) employees for everyone involved with making Yeah The Girls!

The Details
Yeah The Girls follows the life of Piper, a 20-something girl who is struggling with the Auckland dating scene (let's face it, who isn’t??). Despite a string of deeply discouraging dates, however, Piper is still managing to keep her spirits high and her head up (not like that!) thanks to her three flatmates Kate, April and Casey. Her flatties are also her besties, and they’re there for her every step of the way, cheering her on, helping Piper to realise that even if she hasn’t found the love of her life, that doesn’t mean she can’t have a life full of love.
After all, sometimes there’s more fun to be had in the sea than there is looking for the fish.
The Impact
The film is for women, or anyone, navigating being single and getting swept up in the shitstorm that is online dating.
It pokes (not like that!) at the trials and tribulations of navigating the modern dating world in a way that hopes to both entertain and reassure those living out this sometimes nightmarish reality.
It hopes to empower those who relate, to help them celebrate what they do have going for them and feel less alone about that icky date where they climbed out the window, or that weird one night stand with the rugby team mascot.
The core cast and crew are female identifying, with the project looking to uplift female experiences and friendships. We’re passionate about bringing this story to life in a way that brings all of our stories and experiences together, making people feel included and seen. We think YTGs could have the (girl)power to not only brighten days, but to hold up a mirror - a mirror with a great motivational quote scrawled on it - to the audience.
YTGs celebrates community and connection, something we feel is important to highlight in a modern day online society that can feel more and more distant.
We hope this film will be a light and spicy reminder that life is about enjoying the small things. Don’t sweat it. Be diabolical.
