Overview
Whakatōhea Pictures presents Echo Chamber, a powerful short film that illuminates the hidden struggles of depression among young adults and the complex journey of mental health recovery. We're crowdfunding to create an authentic, educational narrative that explores how high-functioning depression masks deep internal struggles and demonstrates the fine balance between helping and inadvertently enabling destructive behaviors. Through compelling storytelling, we aim to foster crucial conversations about mental health complexity while reducing stigma around seeking professional support.

🎥 TEST SHOOT UPDATE: Preparing for Excellence
We're committed to delivering the highest quality possible for everyone who's supporting us, which is why we recently completed a crucial test shoot to fine-tune our approach and ensure we're fully prepared for the main production days.

This test shoot allowed us to work through our shot list, test lighting setups, rehearse direction for our actors on the day, and iron out any technical details with our crew. It's all about being professional and prepared when we roll cameras for real – because your support deserves nothing less than our absolute best effort.
A Huge Thank You to Cheryl and Her Family!
We're incredibly grateful to Cheryl and her wonderful family, who opened their home to us on a Wednesday evening at 9pm and let us film for two hours until around 11-11:30pm. Their generosity and belief in our project means the world to us. Having supportive people like Cheryl who are willing to help us bring this vision to life, even when it means disrupting their evening routine, reminds us why we're so passionate about this project and this amazing community we're building together.
This test shoot has given us the confidence and preparation we need to make the most of every moment during our official production days. We're ready to create something amazing!
