Floyd Favel and the Sarasa Performance Laboratory
Kia ora koutou Rua i Te whānau, my dear friend and colleague Floyd Favel, a theatre theorist, director, teacher, and essayist. He studied theatre in Denmark at the Tukak Teatret, a school for Inuit and Sami peoples, and in Italy with Jerzy Grotowski, a Polish theatre director and influential theatre figure of the 20th century. He is the curator of the Poundmaker Museum, director of the Poundmaker Indigenous Performance Festival, a global Indigenous festival and founder of the Sarasa Performance Laboratory.
I will be joining Floyd Favel and Sarasa Performance Laboratory colleagues in Katowice, Poland for the Kakeyo Ka Acakowihk All Is Spirit symposium and festival, and performance workshops at the Festival Teatru Tej Ziemi | Czerwiec 2026.
Please see our program of events and activities. Many thanks to the generous Rua i Te donors for the support !!!
